The FA have released round dates for the FA Cup for the upcoming season.

Cup run last season

In the last season, Walsall managed to reach the fourth round. Walsall played very well against Leicester City. The Saddlers had chances to win the match but had trouble getting the ball into the net. In the end, Leicester won the game 1-0 from a lucky deflection.

On the way to the fourth round, Walsall knocked out Wycombe 2-0 in round one, Carlisle United 2-1 in round two and Stockport 2-1 in round three.

Could we achieve another FA Cup run?

One more cup run would be nice, but I can’t see us reaching the fourth round next season. I might reassess this when I find out which players we are signing and how we look in the first couple of months of the season.

Our goal should be to reach at least the third round. If we go and get knocked out in the first or second round, I will be very disappointed.

The league is the main priority

In my opinion, the league is our main priority. But on the other side, a cup run would add some much-needed cash to the wage budget. It would also bring some excitement in and around the club.

As long as we are in the cup, we must put out our best team and give all we can to reach as far as possible.
