Preparations are going well

Today, Saturday, April 16th, it is 20 days left until I begin my trip to Walsall, and the preparations are going as planned.

In my last post, I announced my plans for coming over to Walsall. Over the last couple of days, the focus has turned to fixing the more practical things. I’m travelling light and only allowed an 8kg hand luggage. It may get tricky to stay under that limit. In the end, I think I’ll do alright with room to spare, but I won’t have much space left for any shopping.

I’ve already bought a UK SIM card that I can use during my stay. I could use my Swedish provider, but it was cheaper to buy a “Pay As You Go” SIM card from a provider in the UK.
Also, it is probably less hassle to connect to a UK network with a UK provider than my Swedish one.

Flight and accommodation

Eurowings have already rescheduled the outbound flight to Birmingham and the flight back to Stockholm. From being early in the morning to later in the evening. I arrive at the airport sometime between 7 and 8 pm, I won’t have Friday free to stroll around Birmingham. Since they rescheduled the return flight, I won’t have to get up early Monday morning. The return flight departs at 5.40 pm instead of 8.55 am.

I will stay at the Ibis Birmingham New Street Station Hotel. If you have suggestions on where to find a good meal close by, send me a tweet @perstener or comment below.

Will the club shop be open?

I would love to buy a home shirt to wear during the match if the club shop is open. Hopefully, there are still shirts left in stock even though the season is closing. I can’t bring one of my old shirts since I haven’t got anyone that fits anymore.

End on a high?

I was delighted we finally ended our streak of defeats against Carlisle yesterday. Now I wish we end the season on a high. Hopefully, the players will be professional enough to play the remaining matches with 100% focus and give all their heart and soul to winning those.

My hopes are for a great show against Swindon. I won’t be happy if they put out a show like the last time we played Swindon. The thing is, I haven’t paid £500 (excluding food and drinks) to witness a shambolic effort from the players. I had enough of these while watching on iFollow.
