Relegation creeps closer

Walsall’s less than good form continues after they got another defeat today. We took the lead through Sam Perry, who scored his first goal as a professional footballer, but it didn’t last. Bolton turned it around and made 1-1 in the 67th minute. Walsall had Hayden White sent off in the 73rd minute and, it didn’t take long for Bolton to get the winning goal when they were awarded a penalty in the 80th minute.

I won’t have an opinion of how we played since I didn’t watch the match. After a glance at what’s on social media, we seem to have made a pretty good first half but lost it totally in the second half. Playing good one half and have a bad second half seem to be the norm for Walsall in recent years. The matches where we play two good halves is few and far between.

Three of the four teams below us in the table took one or three points today and crept a bit closer. Barrow won against Crawley 3-2, Colchester lost against Portvale 1-0, Southend drew 1-1 against Scunthorpe and, Grimsby played a 2-2 draw against Mansfield. Walsall is in 20th position on 39 pts. Below us are Barrow and Colchester on 38 pts, Southend on 31 pts and last Grimsby on 28 pts.
