Back to draws again!

There hasn’t been much action on this blog for a while, but I’m still alive. I felt it was time to get back into writing.

Walsall is back in the habit of drawing when winning. If we continue to draw our games, we will never win promotion from League Two. We have eleven draws already this season, joint first with Mansfield, and if we continue as we have done lately, we will end up with many more draws.
We have to make sure to defend our leads, keep that clean sheet and not allow teams back into the matches as we have done lately.
Playoff seems far away now and, for every match, we seem to get further and further away yet we are only four points off seventh place.

I’m not sure where the bright spot is at the moment, to be fair I haven’t watched any of the games from early November due to financial reasons but I hope to be back to watch live games soon. Until then, I can’t have much of an opinion on how we play since I can’t watch the matches.

The last week we have welcomed two new loan-signings to the club. This time I hope Clarke can take advantage and have brought in players who can add something to the squad. To be fair none of the attacking-minded loan signings we made this season haven’t been given a fair chance to show what they can do. We saw glimpses of Scrimshaw’s talent, but he had very little time to make any impact. They need to start matches and not brought on as late subs. Both Reid and Wright seem to be attack-minded wide players, which we have lacked massively this season. I hope they take up the competition to earn a place in the starting eleven. I hope Clarke will give them a fair chance to stake their place in the team. These signings will make it possible to play Holden more centrally as well. That’s where he is most effective.
