A few shaky days

It has been some shaky days for Walsall when news about Scottish team Hearts interest in Adebayo surface and today came rumours about Zak Jules on radar by some Championship and League One teams. And on top of all this Bristol City recall left-back George Nurse from his loan.

It looks though as Adebayo will be a Walsall player for a bit longer since Hearts have announced they signed another striker and that should cool off any interest in Adebayo, for now anyway.

Losing Zak Jules would be a bigger problem than losing Adebayo, especially after Bristol has recalled Nurse. We lack depth in the defence, losing two of our better ball-playing defenders would be a big problem. Jules has also been playing left-back when Nurse have been unavailable. With Nurse gone we have to rely on the experienced Matt Sadler, Zak Jules or the young talent Collum Cockerill-Mollett.

It is unclear if Darrell Clarke will dig into the loan market or free transfer market to replace Nurse or rely on those already in the squad. Right full-back Hayden White could play on the left side in an emergency. I’m not a fan of playing a right-footed player as the left-back.

All I wish for now is that if any transfers are going to happen, they should be made pretty soon and not in the last minute of the transfer window, in case we have to find replacements for those who leave.
