Striker Josh Gordon is according to Daily Mail attracting interest from Millwall, Preston and Barnsley.
To lose Gordon would be a big problem for Walsall since he’s a very important player because of his high work-rate and hard-working attitude. In the offensive play, he runs a lot and creates space for his teammates. He is also a goalscoring threat. In the defensive play, he’s as hardworking putting defenders under pressure.
I really hope this rumour is just a rumour and not end up with an offer from any of the mentioned clubs. It would be very hard to keep him when there is a chance to play in the Championship and a bigger wage than Walsall can offer.
The positives are that Walsall is in a place that they should be able to deny any bids for him or that these clubs find better options elsewhere to sign. If they still have to sell him they have to demand a high transfer fee. I think £250K is to low for the important role he has to play for us. We should demand a higher fee to start with.
If god forbid he’s sold the transfer must happen quite soon in that case otherwise I can see Darrell Clarke struggle to find a replacement in time for the upcoming season. We are quite thin as it is in the striking department with Gordon, Lavery and Adebayo as the only options up top.
