Last season I watch most of our matches live via iFollow Walsall. A great service that EFL has for those like me who are unable to come to Banks’s or come along to away matches but still want to see what is happening on the pitch. I have used iFollow since the day it was released and I have been very happy to be able to use this service.
My subscription is up for renewal in a few days and I got an e-mail from iFollow which is owned by EFL. This year the price has been incresed to £140 with around 70% of that going directly to the club. That price is almost 25% higher than it was last season. Due to this price increase, I won’t be able to renew my subscription now but hopefully later this season. It will mean I will miss the season opener which I am very disappointed about.
In the e-mail that I got from iFollow there where no information why they have a new price other than that they will use a different pricing structure plan from this season.
Here is a qoute from the e-mail i recieved:
The 2020/21 season will see a new pricing structure in place for iFollow. Therefore, please note that the price of your renewal may differ to your 2019/20 payment.
Now I have to rely on live text updates, the official website, reports from other fans and various news outlets. I feel sorry to miss out on the action, the adrenaline rush when we score that late winner or those nailbiting minutes when we are put under pressure.
No blame should be on Walsall FC about this as they are not able to do anything about this. iFollow is owned by the EFL and is offered to clubs as a service. I feel sorry that Walsall Football Club may miss out on money if more than med are unable to renew their subscriptions.
