The right recipe for Cook?

Striker Andy Cook, will he stay at Walsall? Will he be happy to play League Two football after a good season at League One standard? I’m sure he wants to stay in League One to continue to prove that he has what it takes to play at that level. Darrell Clarke has said he wants Cook to stay since he sees him as an essential brick in his squad next season. The big question is, will Cook hand in a transfer request? There have been reports of League One clubs being interested in him which may trigger him to try and fork out a move back to League One.

It is up to Darrell Clarke and his staff to try and convince Cook to stay and take drop down to try and help Walsall back to League One football at the first attempt. At the same time, Cook could show some loyalty to the club that brought him out of the non-league football and gave him a chance at playing football at a higher level. That would also show us fans that he are willing to pay back to the club and his reputation among the fans would grow a little.

I will follow this closely, and I hope he stays at Walsall because we need a proven goal scorer to get us those crucial goals that could mean the difference between a promotion chasing season or mid-table mediocrity.
